Our coir side fenders offer you a 100% natural alternative to standard rubber fenders.

These coir fenders are handmade specifically by experts in India. This is because the process they use to create the fenders requires a lot of time and skill to perfect. To begin with, they carefully extract the natural fibres from the outside husks of coconuts. They then soak the fibres in a slow-moving body of water to allow them to soften, making them easier to manipulate. Once soaked, the fibres are elastic enough to twist, and once set, can hold a curl as though permanently waved.

Coir fenders provide similar impact absorption and protective properties to rubber fenders, but at a fraction of the weight. This, and the fact they do not require adhesive, means they can easily be raised and lowered, or removed and installed on new vessels, as required. This makes them extremely versatile.

Protection and Durability

When coming into contact with a jetty or another vessel or jetty, fenders offer you a margin of error. They absorb the kinetic energy of the impact, offering protection to not only the boat, but also to the people within.

Coir, being one of the few natural materials that is resistant to damage by saltwater, ensures that coir rope fenders offer the same security as standard fenders, but with added levels of durability.
