RubbaPour® Wet Pour EPDM Granules

Our RubbaPour® wet pour EPDM granules provide a cost-effective solution to anyone who is looking to install a safety surface.

Wet pour is rapidly becoming the standard for many outdoor play areas. This is due to the excellent safety and attractive range of colours which are only available in wet pour. Wet pour is also highly durable and requires little to no maintenance.

Our RubbaPour® wet pour materials can be split into three different categories:

Base Layer: The base layer provides the bulk of the shock absorption properties. We manufacture the base layer from 100% recycled, black SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) crumb. You can increase the depth of the base layer in order to accommodate different critical fall heights. The base layer RubbaPour® can also be used as a shock pad base on 3G sports pitches and as a bunker lining for golf courses.

Please note: The RubbaPour® wet pour SBR base layer is sold separately so that you can customise your requirements.

Top Layer: The top layer provides an attractive, high quality finish. We create this layer using small, rubber EPDM granules. We supply enough granules and binder to form a 15mm thick layer, for the surface area required.

If you are installing on a solid concrete or tarmac base and critical fall height is not a factor, you can install the 15mm top layer without the SBR base.

Binder: The binder holds the granules together, which enables our wet pour materials to create a single surface. Our RubbaFlex polyurethane binder is highly resistant to a range of liquids, including acids and alkalis. Once dry, the binder will create a hard surface that is comfortable, as well as easy, to walk over. It also enables the granules to compress slightly to allow for greater impact absorption. For the lighter colours (Mid-Grey, Light Grey, Eggshell), we will supply an aliphatic binder and catalyst, which provides greater UV protection and prevents the surface from yellowing.

Please note: The required amount of RubbaFlex or aliphatic binder is supplied for the surface area required so does not need to be ordered separately.

To order your RubbaPour® wet pour EPDM granules, enter the required area size in square metres, and click ADD TO BASKET. Don’t forget to order your base layer!

Critical Fall Height

Certain applications such as children’s outdoor play areas will typically require some degree of fall protection. Calculating the critical fall height a piece of equipment requires, ensures that the safety surface is thick enough. Installing the appropriate critical fall height can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury.

From the graph above you can see that increasing the base thickness provides superior protection against larger heights. When calculating the critical fall height you require, we typically suggest only increasing the thickness of the base layer. This ensures that the visible, higher quality layer is able to maintain a consistent depth of 15mm. This can greatly reduce cost, without affecting the performance of the surface.

Simple to Install

Following the detailed instructions we provide enables almost anyone to install a safety surface using our wet pour materials. Simply use the calculating table to determine how much material and binder you need. Depending on the surface area you wish you cover some customers may benefit from the use of a creteangle mixer. Customers who are repairing or installing on a small area could purchase a paddle style mixer and mix by hand. These tools are important as it ensures that the binder is able to cover every part of the granules. This results in a more attractive as well as better functioning safety surface.

Please note: We strongly advise against using cement mixers, as these mixers are unable to evenly distribute the binder.

In order to achieve the best results, we always suggest preparing the ground surface prior to installation. Ensuring that the ground surface is level and dry can reduce installation time and improve the effectiveness of the surface.
