Coir Ball Fenders
Our coir ball fenders are a specialty product that we offer to customers looking to add something extra to their vessel compared to standard fenders. Coir ball fenders feature a lot of similar impact absorption properties that rubber fenders offer. However, coir fenders provide a natural alternative to rubber. This makes them ideal for someone looking for an environmentally friendly and sustainable way to protect their vessel. The aesthetic appeal of the coir ball fenders help them blend into the sea craft easier, compared to the black and grey colours of rubber fenders.
These coir fenders are handmade specifically for us by experts in India. This is because the process they use to create the fenders requires a lot of time and skill to perfect. To begin with, they carefully extract the natural fibres from the outside husks of coconuts to form coir. They then soak the extract in a slow-moving body of water to allow the fibres to soften, making them easier to manipulate. Once soaked, the fibres are elastic enough to twist, and once set, can hold a curl as though permanently waved.
We offer coir fenders in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on your specific needs, you can view our full range of coir fenders here.
Protection and Durability
When coming into contact with another vessel or jetty fenders offer you a margin of error. They absorb the kinetic energy of the impact, offering protection to not only the boat but the people within. Coir being one of the few natural materials that are resistant to damage by saltwater ensures that coir rope fenders offer the same security as standard fenders but with added levels of durability.
Commonly used in boats but have a wide range of other uses. Natural waterproofing qualities coupled with their buoyancy make them an ideal tool for many boats such as narrowboats, barges, and classic boats. Perfect for outdoor purposes like garden borders and decoration because of its affordability and durability.
